Painting the Man of Sorrows
Who is the Man of Sorrows?
Isaiah 53:3-5 (NKJV)3 He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
4 Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
The Man of Sorrows is Christ. That is the main focus of my art. However, the man of sorrows (little m) is the man acquainted with grief, with sorrow, who by his courage and his pain some are saved. He is the policeman, firefighter, soldier, who each and every day is out there working to serve and protect, so often also bruised and wounded for those he is trying to save.
My name is daniel Rick, I paint to glorify Christ, and to honor the heroes around us
In Exodus 31 God raises up artists for the building of the Tabernacle. That prayer, to be filled with wisdom and artistry to bring images from the Word of God to life as visual imagery is my desire. May these images bless you today. Next time you walk in to your church take a look around, how does it glorify the Lord, are there images that help new believers to visualize the Word? Consider ordering a framed print for your church to bless those in your church family.
